Holiday Blog Challenge- Traditions

Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge

Day {TWO} - Fave holiday tradition, new or old

Growing up our tradition was always watching Garfield Christmas, Charlie Brown's Christmas & Rudolph on Christmas Eve.  Then I'd leave Santa cookies and milk along with carrots for the reindeer. Not too much has changed now that I'm 26.  I still watch those Christmas movies along with others.  We've started going to dad's house Christmas Eve.  Usually Mac & I stop and bring Chinese over and we just hang out. Depending on how we get along that night, my step mother & I may go to Christmas Eve Mass while Dad & Mac sit home and do...I'm not exactly sure what they do!

I want to start doing more with Mac and start our own traditions.  This year I want to drive around and look at all the Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music with a hot cocoa and the pup in the car. We'll see how this goes!

What are your traditions?

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge Day 8

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge hosted by Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup and Amber.

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge

Today's topic is: Fall travel/road trips

The first thing that comes to my mind with this topic is that I love about living in Northern NJ. We don't have far to travel to see gorgeous leaves. These things are pretty much in our backyard:

Greenwood Lake NY

Ringwood Manor, Ringwood, NJ

Skylands Manor, Ringwood, NJ (where our engagement pics were taken!)

High Point State Park, Montague, NJ

Central Park, NYC

Where do you go in the Fall? Any beauty around where you live?

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge Day 7

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge hosted by Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup and Amber.

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge

Today's topic is: Fall Recipe's

Cooking is something I love to do & wish I had more time to do it. When you work the late shift like I do, the last thing you want to do is cook at 9 o'clock at night. I try and make several things on my days off and freeze them. So here are some of my favorite Fall recipe

Buffalo Chicken Soup

ingredients:

1/2 yellow onion, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
1 cup chicken broth, plus extra if needed
4 oz sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups cooked and cubed chicken
1/8 cup Frank's RedHot sauce
1/2 tsp celery salt
1/2 tsp garlic salt
This one is a favorite in our house!

directions:

Saute onions and celery in butter until tender. Stir in flour until smooth. Slowly add milk and broth. Heat and stir on medium until soup starts to thicken. Add remaining ingredients and simmer, stirring occasionally, until cheese has melted.

I also added rice to mine to make it a little more stew-y and less soupy.
What's your favorite Fall recipe?

Fall decorating

I love Fall decorations, but I really don't decorate.  We work a lot, we're hardly ever home and frankly, we have no extra money for decorations. I'm hoping that'll change and I can slowly start buying my Fall stash. I definitely want to be one of those moms who's always decorating the house to match the season or upcoming Holiday. So instead of showing you my boring couple of fall candles or my sad & lonely pumpkin, I'll show you what I would do if I had the money. All decorations are from pinterest.com (where else would they be from? lol)

Can't wait to see how everyone decorates for the fall!

What do you do for Halloween/a Halloween memory

When I was younger I'd always dress up for Halloween. Our elementary school did a Halloween walk through town down past the senior citizens building and then we'd go back and go to the gym where we did different activities. There was always singing involved. Usually to the Monster Mash. After school, we'd go trick or treating around the town and then I'd come back and sort my candy while my parents stole what they wanted (dad always stole Tootsie Rolls) and I'd be allowed a piece or two a day. That pillowcase lasted me FOREVER.
Some outfits mom dressed me up in?

As I got older the trick-or-treating stopped (I'm disappointed by that), but there was still costumes to be worn at highschool and parties to attend.

When I graduated Halloween just became another day for me. I usually work that day and we don't get trick-or-treaters by us since we live by the highway.

This year I would like to get dressed up and do something with Mac & the pup, but we'll see. I can't wait til we have kids and then we can do family outings in different costumes, until then I'll live vicariously through you guys and save buy my Halloween candy at a discount price the next day.

Seriously how cute would we look if we all dressed up at SuperGirl, SuperMan & SuperDog?!

What do you do for Halloween? Do you dress up? Do you do matching Costumes??

30 Day Challenge Day 3

3. What kind of person attracts you?

The obvious answer is Mac, but I'm trying to write more meaninful entries..

Things that attract me to Mac over the years:
1. His sense of humor.  We were laughing over something so stupid the other day while we were in the car & I told him that we could never be with other people because I'm pretty sure NO one else would laugh at the things we say and do.
2. The way he treats me. A lot of people think that he's not a good fiance because it always seems like I'm giving gas money to him or I'm paying for this and that. Not the case. In the beginning of our relationship he paid for everything and that would of stayed the same if he never lost his job(s) in the first place. He's never laid a hand on me. My Uncle thinks I should marry a white, christian boy and keep it in the same race. My mom told him once that she rather me date outside my race, faith, WHATEVER as long as he treated me well. My eyes obviously doesn't see color and I wish others didn't either. He knows how to make me laugh when I'm having a bad day and usually says the right things to make me stop crying.
3. The way he treats his nephews.  It show me the type of dad that he'll be one day. Although I think I'm going to be the bad parent that's always yelling..despite what he says.
4. He's a hard worker. Not everyone would go to a different state where you don't know anyone to work.
5. His love for Cars, Wrestling, Electronics.
6. He comes shopping with me and doesn't even complain..that right there shows he's a keeper LOL
7. He's willing to try anything once.

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge Day 1

So I wasn't going to partake in this Fabulous Fall Challenge, but everyone else that I read seems to be, so I figured why not? Today we're talking about Fall Traditions.

1. Apple Picking. This is a new one for Mac. Last year was the first time he EVER went apple picking. I guess this is what happens when you live in a city and not a small country-ish town.

2. Hot Chocolates. I love getting a hot chocolate or a coffee & then going for a walk with Mac.

3. Making Chili & Soups. Nothing like something warm and a cool night.

4. Sweaters, Boots & scarves...need I say more?!

ps- I LOVE this outfit and am on the hunt for a pink purse so I can recreate this look.

5. Burning anything cinnamon. I love cinnamon pinecones & hope to bring some home soon.

Link here & tell everyone what your Fall traditions are. Can't wait to hear them!
