Pit bulls

I was reading a blog from 2010 where someone had written that pit bulls should be illegal in NJ. They bought their dog to a dog park and then this big pit came in and attacked this person's dog.  I ABSOLUTELY hate how pit bulls get such a bad reputation.  As most of you know, we have a pit/lab mix

Does he bite me? Yes, but not hard. Do I bruise? Yes, but I bruise easily.  I'm not going to call him a ferocious animal.  He's still a puppy that needs some more manners. He really is a good dog (most of the time!) and has never bitten anyone or another dog. Any dog could do the damage of what these breeds do, but the media only focuses on this type of breed right now.

Sooner or later people will figure out that these breeds are one of the most loyal dogs out there.  Sir is never too far from me (right now he's under our kitchen table at my feet) and if I'm sad or upset, he'll come up by me and lick me.  While he does get on my nerves, I wouldn't trade him for anything (despite what I yell at him when I'm mad lol).

Tell me do these guys look mean to you?

What is your opinion on pitbulls? Do you have one or have you ever had one?

  1. I can't stand when people say bad stuff about pits. Shepherds and rotties can be protective too and attack - should we make them illegal? Plus, little dogs bite people all the time!

    1. If you're going to make one breed illegal just because they bite, they'd have to make all breed illegal! Little dogs are much worse in my opinion!

  2. I hate it when people say they are bad! I have a boxer/pit bull mix, and when people see her, they automatically think she is evil. Whenever I walk her or bring her places, I always here people talk about her and they always say the nastiest things.

And I think little dogs are worse! Our other dog is a 12 pound French Bulldog runt, and he is a little bastard. He bites everyone and everything, but people assume that he's sweet since he's small.

    1. I also wanted to say that my boxer/pit mix is almost 100 pounds, and when people get to know her, they think she's hilarious and really sweet because she is terrified of EVERYTHING

  3. Thank you so much for posting. It makes me so mad to hear things like that. I have one he is almost 9 years old and I would be lost without him. First off any dog can do that the ones that are labs and so forth it does happen but they don't broadcast it like they do pits. 2nd instead of trying to outlaw the dogs maybe they should take a look at the owners of dogs and see how they are treated. People are the problem more often than the animals themselves.

  4. I know what you mean. My husband grew up a pit mix and she was the sweetest, most loving dog! All dogs need training and dogs that are more "aggressive" breeds need extra care and love. But dogs are not by nature "bad."
